2009 – Iceland

Published by Dagmar

A volcanic island nation in the northern Atlantic Ocean, about 10% glaciated. Land of geysers and the arctic fox.

In spring 2009, I joined a group to cross the Vatnajökull glacier (the big one, in the south-east), on snow shoes. On day 4, we unfortunately got caught in a snow storm for 72 hours, forcing us to change the route. But snowstorm or not, the landscape was stunning.
